Learn the French language
We will immerse ourselves in the French language, culture and, of course, gastronomy for 5 days.
- Each day you will be taught by 2 teachers.
- Céline and Anderkse teach 4 hours a day in 2 blocks.
& - You get an hour of private instruction so you can connect just those dots.
We take trips to authentic French villages. Can you immediately test your new skills!
We are staying in the Orangery of an old castle. In La Forêt- Auvray. A beautiful, quiet place where there is plenty of room for classes and relaxation.
Annelies provides the meals.
Between classes, for example, visit a market – and practice grades, how to order tomatoes neatly for that evening’s salad.
In Bayeux, we learn the history of Normandy and England, and enjoy the beautiful city. And in Falaise, we meet William the Conqueror again at the chateau. A perfect way to revisit the past!
On the last evening, we prepare the banquet together and, of course, put into practice all our lessons learned. Qui veux encore du vin?

The lessons
Lessons are taught according to the EQF lesson levels.
We gather at the Orangery, a place where we immerse ourselves together in all that Normandy has to offer. As much as possible in French, of course.
In two blocks we have 4 hours of real lessons. In it we learn everything we need to build a good foundation of the French language. Sometimes “classroom” – but that could just as easily be on the grass in the garden, sometimes in smaller groups. Count on Céline and Anderske to know how to teach this beautiful language in a fun and interesting way.
And during this week you will also receive one hour of private lessons from Anderske or Céline. So you can discuss just those issues you always run into, or perfect your pronunciation. (I’m still struggling with -tion not pronouncing it as – sjon) Customization, in other words.
Starting to learn French
During the period from July 21 to July 26, 2024, classes are for beginners or A1/A2 level. You will learn simple concepts to describe the world around you: who you are and what you see. The people you want to communicate with should be patient and talk slowly and sometimes repeat what they have said.
After this course, you will know enough French to communicate easily with those around you on everyday topics. You can engage in short and concise conversations, but you can’t really express yourself spontaneously yet.

During the period from July 27 to August 1, we will teach classes at the advanced beginner or A2/B1 level.
You can already talk a little bit about general things. For example, where you are from and what you enjoy doing. In the course you will learn to express yourself better about yourself and the world around you and say what you think and feel. You can have a conversation if it is spoken in simple language.
We will pay extra attention to…
We contact everyone to determine the appropriate level. This way you can be sure that you will be placed in the right group and learn optimally.

Céline and Anderske take you through the language and culture of France in a few days. They know better than anyone else what it is like to find your way in a foreign country in a foreign language. In fact, Céline is a Frenchwoman who lived in Amsterdam for many years. Then again, Anderske is Dutch and lives in Toulouse.
Céline
A Frenchwoman from Lille, I spent my entire childhood in the Chti’s region. To better communicate with my stepfamily on the other side of the border, I went to study Dutch at university. After 13 years of living and working in Amsterdam, I was so settled that I had to follow the path of the dozens of Dutch people emigrating to the south of France to live in Toulouse.
Committed, but also critical of society, I know from experience what it means to learn a language.
Anderske
In 2012, I got to know Toulouse as an Erasmus student and aupair. With my diplomas in my pocket (Cultural and Social Studies and French teacher training), I decided to stay in Toulouse a little longer anyway. I started teaching Dutch, set up the association PRAATJE and, after several jobs in the corporate world, began working as a freelance teacher of Dutch and French. Now 10 years on, I have continued to build my association, teach full-time French and Dutch classes and still love France !
The location
We are staying at the Orangery. A beautiful place in la Suisse Normande where we have the space to vacation and learn together as a group. There is a large living room, separate kitchen and separate dining room. As a result, we don’t get in each other’s way. In the space garden you can almost get lost. And hopefully pick strawberries in the “potager.
There are 5 bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, and there is a separate studio. You can see the layout of the bedrooms below. The studio is attached to Annelies’ house and has its own front door, bedroom, laundry room and small kitchen. Anderske and Céline sleep on the first floor of the gite.
The Orangerie is located next to the chateau of La Fôret-Auvray, near La Roche d’Oetre nature reserve, 20 minutes from Falaise, 45 minutes from Caen. 2.5 hours from Paris by train. And about 650 kilometers from Utrecht.
You can very well choose to travel by public transportation. You can take the train to Argentan station. If you let us know when booking we will provide transportation to the Orangery.
Please note that the classes are held in a remote location; you will need transportation to get to the bakery, supermarket or restaurant.

The excursions
To take in as much of French culture and nature as possible, we go out every day! There is something for everyone on this trip, as we go to the market, to the small town of Falaise, to tourist attraction Bayeux and we head into nature at cliff formation Roche d’Oetre.
Market St Pierre sur Dives
A beautiful town, St Pierre, with a formidable regional market. The old market halls provide a beautiful backdrop for the market held every Monday. All kinds of fruits and vegetables are offered here. It is a feast for the eyes.
Bayeux
Bayeux is world-famous for the oldest “comic strip” in the world. The 11th-century tapestry tells the story of the Battle of Hastings. It is impressive to see the story, and especially to think that this has been preserved for so long. In addition to the tapestry, Bayeux also has a beautiful cathedral and a wonderfully French atmosphere.
Falaise
The birthplace of William the Conqueror (Yes, the one from the Battle of Hastings) The castle, or old fortress gives a good idea of how people used to live in Falaise. Falaise was also fought in World War II, which you can see in the museum next to the castle. A drink in the square de la Belle Croix completes a visit to Falaise.
Roche d’Oetre
A beautiful natural area a stone’s throw from the Orangery. Marvel at the depth of the cliffs and take a brisk walk to the riverbank.
We will travel together to the excursions and count on it not being a problem to car-pool.

Anything goes and anything goes at the Orangery, but there are some rules. By participating in the language course, you promise to abide by these rules.
Included
This course includes the following:
- The lessons as described above
- 5 nights in the Orangery
- Meals except lunch in St. Louis are not included. Pierre sur Dives and Bayeux
- The entrance to the Falaise castle and museum in Bayeux
Not included
Some items are not included:
- The journey to and from the Orangery

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
For language courses in July 2024 jointly organized by l’Orangerie, Taalcentrum Praatje and Avec Céline.
Article 1: Definitions.
1. In these general terms and conditions, the following definitions shall apply:
A. Event: a French course organized by the three parties mentioned above, , hereinafter referred to as Organizer.
B. Participant: the (natural) person, who has registered for participation in an Event in a manner permitted by the Organizer.
C. Agreement: the agreement for Participant’s participation in an event.
D. Organizer: L’Orangerie (Siret: 89297112800012), Language Talk, French with Céline
2. These general terms and conditions apply to each Agreement of each event.
Article 2: Participation
1. Participation in an Event is only possible for a natural person
2. The Participant may participate in an Event if he has completed the appropriate registration form in full, truthfully, if the registration fee has been paid in full and if the Participant has agreed to these general terms and conditions and house rules of l’Orangerie . By registering, the Participant undertakes to pay the price of the Event in a timely manner.
3. The Event shall state what is included in the price of the Event. Additional fees may apply for specific services.
Article 3: Substitution
The right of participation in an Event is personal and non-transferable, unless the Organizer has given permission to the Participant by email. Conditions may be attached to this permission, such as the payment of administration or amendment fees. Participant is not permitted to seek a substitute on the Internet or to sell or otherwise offer his participation in the Event on the Internet.
Article 4: Cancellation by the Organizer
1.In case of cancellation by the Organizer, this will be communicated by email to the registrants no later than 30 days before the start of the Event.
In case of cancellation by the Organizer, the amount paid will be refunded to the registrants within three days of the communication of this.
2. A decision by the Organizer not to allow the Event to take place does not create any liability for reimbursement of costs incurred by the Participant, including travel and accommodation costs.
Article 5: The cancellation fee
If the Participant cancels then cancellation fees will apply.
The cancellation fee is fixed and depends on the time of cancellation:
– For cancellation up to 6 weeks before the Event: 40% of the price of the Event (the deposit amount will not be returned);
– For cancellation up to 14 days before the start of the Event: 50% of the price of the Event;
– For cancellation up to 8 days before the start of the Event: 75% of the price of the Event;
– For cancellation from the 7th day before the start of the Event: 100% of the price of the Event;
– For cancellation on the day of the start of the Event or later: 100% of the price of the Event. Cancellation should always be reported in writing or by email to the Organizer. The day this written or digital cancellation is received is considered the cancellation date. If sent outside business hours, the next business day will be considered the cancellation date. Should the Participant wish to book additional travel and/or cancellation insurance, the Participant may do so with an insurer of his/her choice.
Article 6: Liability
1. Participation is at your own risk. The Organizer is not liable for any damage, by whatever name, which the Participant may suffer as a result of the participation, unless this damage is the direct result of intent or gross negligence attributable to the Organizer This exclusion of liability also applies to serious damages such as all possible damages resulting from (permanent) injury or death.
2. If, notwithstanding the provisions of the first paragraph of this Article, the Organizer’s liability for damages of the Participant must be assumed, the obligation of the Organizer to compensate such damages remains limited to a maximum of the amount paid by the Organizer’s insurer in respect of such damages.
3. The Participant must be adequately insured against the risk of damage that he or a surviving relative may suffer as a result of his death, injury or illness caused by his participation in the Event.
4. The Participant indemnifies the Organizer for all damages that third parties may suffer as a result of an act or omission attributable to the Participant in relation to participation in an Event. The Participant must be adequately insured against the risk of liability for said damage.
5. Involved third parties or stakeholders of an Event are excluded from any liability on the same footing as the Organizer.
6. Portrait rights
Participant grants in advance permission to the Organizer for publication of photographs, videos and other visual material taken during or around an Event, in the broadest sense of the word, in which the Participant is visible. The Participant may object to said disclosure by e-mail. The Organizer will then take this into account.
7. Personal data
The personal data provided by the Participant will be entered into a file by the Organizer. By entering into the Agreement, the Participant grants permission to the Organizer to use the personal data for sending information to the Participant and for providing the personal data to third parties for the purpose of sending information about its events to the Participant. The Participant is permitted at any time to object, free of charge, in writing or by email to the sending of information by the Organizer or to the provision of personal data, whereupon the Organizer will cease such sending or provision respectively.
